SJHSS presented William Shakespeareβs renowned play, The Merchant of Venice, and is excited to have participated in this yearβs National Drama Contest. This event served as a valuable platform for students to display their dramatic skills, encourage active involvement, and promote holistic education. It was also a tribute to the birth anniversary of our beloved Gyeltsen, and a total of 50 Higher Secondary Schools were selected for the contest.
The dedication and interest of the participants brought Shakespeareβs classic play to life. The performance was truly praiseworthy, showcasing their talent and commitment. βThe Merchant of Veniceβ is a play that challenges and engages audiences with its exploration of themes such as mercy, justice, and the complexities of human relationships. Through characters like Shylock, Antonio, and Portia, Shakespeare invites us to examine the limits of compassion and societal expectations.
Today, it was a privilege to see our students express their creativity, dedication, and hard work through this performance. This event not only honored Shakespeareβs legacy but also deepened our appreciation of his enduring characters and themes, transforming the written word into a vivid portrayal of humanity.
Additionally, the support of our esteemed guests and expert judges from various high schools greatly enhanced the event, providing encouragement that inspired our young performers.
